He has been a lecturer at the University of Tokyo since 1982, an associate professor at the University of Tokyo since 1983, a professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo since 1999, a professor at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo since 1999, a professor at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo since 2006, and a professor at the University of Tokyo since 2018. He has served as Director of the Virtual Reality Center, Cooperative Research Organization, The University of Tokyo since 2020. He specializes in systems engineering, virtual reality, and human interface.
